How to Ask Great Testimonials from Clients: What I'm Doing
Here's how to get great testimonials.
One of the things I wanted to focus for this year is to build processes and systems that would allow me to scale my micro-agency business.
At the top of this list is to find out how much better I can onboard and ask client testimonials. The last one is big as majority of the new business I signed up in the last few years were from referrals.
If I could make it easy for happy clients to leave an endorsement, that will go along way towards getting new leads and projects.
So here's what I'm doing:
1. I'm using Gill Andrews's template on how to ask for testimonials - it's a two-part email . Link to original blog post below.
2. I'm trying to publish more video content so I'm using VideoAsk to send requests and keep it simple.
I'm going to roll this process to a few clients in the next couple of weeks and get feedback on what else to improve.
Best Article This Week: How to Get Great Testimonials
"A great testimonial is one that is specific enough to sound authentic and credible while covering:
- the challenges your client was struggling with
- how you help them overcome those challenges
- what specific results your work had for their business
…so that your prospects who’ll be reading this testimonial can relate to it and see that you successfully helped people with the same problems in the past."
Tip No. 2: Show it, Don't Just Say It
Copywriting Tip:
Replace text with graphics.
Instead of a comparison, use a table.
Instead of a percentage, use a pie chart.
Instead of an increase #, use a bar chart.
Visual memory > verbal memory.

Fun Section: How to Speed Read by Tim Ferris
One of the major milestones I achieved this year was getting to read daily. Just carving time in the morning to sit and read makes you read faster and finish books in less time. So if you ever wanted to try and speed read your way through your reading list, I took up some pointers in this Tim Ferris video.
